Handler started performing to earn cash. Handler's ability to write stories came into play when she reached 21. Handler then decided to make a full-time commitment to stand-up comedy. Handler's first job was as an actress on a cast of all females for the Oxygen channel's reality-TV show Girls who behave badly. The show featured a combination of hidden cameras and humorous humor. This show aired between 2002 and 2005. The handler then began appearing in several other shows like Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler was also an anchor for The Tonight Show. Handler had her biggest break in 2006, as she became the host of E! It was called The Chelsea Handler Series. The show ran for 2 seasons. Handler was a part of Comedy Central's Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour the next year throughout the United States. Her stand-up performances were telecast on VH1, Comedy Central's Premium Blend, and HBO. It was announced in 2010 that she would host the MTV Video Music Awards 2010. This made her the second woman in the history of television, after Roseanne Barr, to host the VMAs.
