Cecily strong
Cecily Legler Strong, born on February 8, 1984, is an American comedian, actress and producer. She is also a singer and stand-up comedian. Strong is best known for her role as a character on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 2012 to 2022. She is also the longest-tenured female cast member during the course of the show's history. Strong was hired for SNL when she was performing improv in The Second City in Chicago which is where she relocated after her graduation from CalArts. She is currently the host of the Apple TV+ musical comedy program Schmigadoon! She is also the co-producer of the show (2021-2024).
Other roles she's had as a voice actor include The Awesomes (2013-2015), and supporting roles in films such as Ghostbusters, The Meddler and The Female Brain. In 2015, she hosted the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Her first novel, This Will All End Soon Soon It was published by Random House in 2021.
She was nominated in the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in Comedy Series and Saturday Night Live.
Childhood and early life
Strong was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois. She is the daughter Penelope and William Strong. Strong was a chief of the Associated Press bureau and also owned his own PR company up to 2013. Penny Legler Strong is a nurse practitioner, and has worked extensively at area hospitals. Strong was the child of divorced parents. Strong was fascinated by SNL at a young age. She enjoyed reenacting sketches with a friend as well as watching the old SNL commercials on VHS. "I had an entire tape of the most memorable commercials and I would wear it all day long." She said Phil Hartman had inspired her.
